Self-hosted employee time tracking. No cloud in the path.
Most tracking tools are hosted services: screenshots and activity go to their servers and you take their word for what happens next. Zeetavix has no server in the picture — it runs inside the Odoo Community you already host, writes to your own disk, and there is nothing for us to see even if we wanted to. $149 once, unlimited users.
Architecture: what runs where
Two pieces, both yours. The Odoo module lives on your server and owns every record: timesheets, attendance, sessions, screenshots, reports. The desktop tracker lives on each person's machine and sends timer events, activity samples and window titles to the Odoo address you configure — and nowhere else. There is no sync to reconcile because there is no second database, and no Zeetavix server in the path at all. The full data path is drawn in how Odoo automatic time tracking works.
Data ownership and deployment
You host the Odoo server — your own hardware, your own cloud account, your choice — so you remain the sole controller of your employees' data; under GDPR and India's DPDP Act no processor ever receives it, because no processor is involved. Deployment is the same as any Odoo app: install the module from Apps, point the trackers at your server URL, approve each device from the employee's own Odoo login. Security and privacy boundaries
- Screenshots never travel. Written to your own disk by your own Odoo — which is why screenshots are unlimited rather than metered. Administrators switch them on or off; see retention and privacy.
- Your AI, your key. Run Ollama on your own hardware and nothing leaves at all — or use your own key for OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or OpenRouter, called directly by your Odoo. We never see the key, the prompts or the answers.
- Nothing phones home. Not data and not a licence check either — that hourly call went with the subscription. Your installation makes no request to Zeetavix of any kind, because there is no endpoint left to call.
- Nothing to migrate off. Stop paying and tracking stops; every record already in your Odoo stays where it is. No export to request, no account to close.
Who self-hosting is (and isn't) for
It is for teams that already run Odoo, or are willing to — you need a server or someone who can stand one up. It is not for teams shopping for a hosted dashboard with nothing to install: this is infrastructure on your machine, with the control and the responsibility that implies. Where is my team's data stored?
